TORP is conducting research and design work on applications of chemical flooding in Kansas. A grant from the US Department of Energy has significantly enhanced our chemical flooding program. Our joint project with DOE is titled Bridging the Gap between Chemical Flooding and Independent Oil Producers. The project will span three years [10/2008 to 9/2011] and will produce chemical flooding designs for several leases that will be selected in Kansas. The designs provide the opportunity for pilot/demonstration field projects, possibly with government assistance. The purpose of these works is to provide Independent Oil Producers with the type of information they require for assessing the applicability of chemical flooding for their leases. At present, there is little technical information about field applications of chemical flooding that is available publicly.
