Tertiary Oil Recovery Project
Tertiary Oil Production

Tertiary Production

Tertiary, or enhanced, oil recovery is expensive and involves the use of chemicals to mobilize trapped oil or heat to thin the oil so it flows more freely. An additional 5% to 15% of the oil in a reservoir is produced during this stage. So, after primary, secondary and tertiary oil recovery techniques have been applied on the order of 50% of the oil in the reservoir is recovered.
